The failure to keep marriage what God commanded it to be is the downfall of
every nation. I am speaking about the ease of divorce, saved people marrying
lost people, saved Baptists marrying saved of other beliefs, and saved Baptist
not taking their marriage vows seriously.
Divorce is so prevalent today that more than 50% of couples will divorce.
Matthew 19:8 "He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness
of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it
was not so."
In verse 4-5, Jesus refers to Genesis and the way God established
marriage.
Verse 7 – the difference between a command and suffering (or allowing).
Verse 9 – Fornication happens before marriage, while adultery is after
marriage. I believe there is a difference between "living in
adultery" and "committing adultery". The persons that are
living together without marriage are "living in adultery", while
the persons who are remarried commit adultery, but God recognizes the
marriage.
John 4:15-19 – The woman at the well had been married 5 times,
and the man she was presently living with was not her husband. This woman is
lost. Every person that is "shacking up" is not lost, but that
person is living like they are lost.
Divorce is very, very prominent today. It is the cause of
the fall of this great nation.
Genesis 6 – These people took wives of all they chose – not those
whom God chose for them. God destroyed the entire world because of interfaith
marriage. Do we believe any family or nation can stand if they continue in
interfaith marriage? This started when Cain’s wife left the place of
worship, and moved with him away from the place of God’s blessings, and
increased until Genesis 6, some 1656 years after creation, when the flood came
upon the earth and destroyed all the human race except the eight souls who
were on the ark.
It is important to know and understand that the destruction of this world
will come because of the wickedness of the people of God, not the wickedness
of the people of this world. II Chronicles 7:14 declares that if God’s
people will turn, he will forgive their sins and heal their land.
The saved are not supposed to marry the lost. Saved Baptists should only
marry saved Baptists.
We are supposed to be a peculiar people unto the Lord.
Israel was supposed to be a peculiar people unto the Lord.
Genesis 4:3 – Abraham getting a wife for Isaac. The wife was to come
from among the believers, never from among the heathen. This may sound very
narrow, but it is Biblical. Parents should make sure their children marry in
the Lord, not out of the Lord. The future of our nation is at stake.
Genesis 28:1 – Isaac commanded Jacob to get a wife from the believers,
not from the heathen, as Esau did. See Genesis 26:34,35. The wives of Esau
were a grief of mind to Isaac and Rebekah. Again, this may sound narrow, but
it is necessary for the continuing of our faith and nation.
Deuteronomy 7:1-10 – God’s instruction to Israel concerning who they
should marry – because the heathen will draw them away from God and his
righteous life. Intermarrying with the heathen will eventually cause the
destruction of the nation of Israel. When the Israelites are turned away
from God, they are removing themselves from the umbrella of protection,
which is linked to his eternal authority.
Joshua 23:11-13 – Joshua is dying. If marriages are made with the lost,
the natural consequences are God’s judgments because of a failure to do
right until there is a complete destruction of the nation. Do you see what
is happening? This is also happening in our nation today. All the
controversy of what is marriage is the result of God’s children not taking
marriage as seriously as they ought. Now we have people shacking up
together, marrying whomsoever they will, divorcing for their own
convenience, aborting (murdering) their babies, committing adultery and
fornication freely, and expecting us to accept their wickedness, and not say
anything about it, and getting mad at us if we do declare what God declared.
We have homosexual marriages, and the struggle to change the very fabric of
our nation, to make this abomination legal in this country. Laws concerning
abusing children are perverted, causing child molestation to be rampant. We
are told pedophiles cannot help what they are doing, that it is somebody
else’s fault, drugs, or whatever, or the way they were raised.
Ezra 9:12 – (The entire chapter) – Ezra prayed for forgiveness
because Israel had married heathens.
Nehemiah 13:25 – Nehemiah contended with Israel and smote some of them.
