Luke 22:48
Judas betraying Christ.
Luke 22:48 – Jesus asked Judas if he would betray him with a kiss.
Mark 11:1-11 Jesus makes his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Saturday.
Mark 11:12-19 – The next day, Sunday, Jesus comes back to Jerusalem and
cleanses the temple.
Mark 11:20-14:1 – This is Monday, and Christ speaks many things in the
temple.
I am trying to make the point that all the religious Jews who wanted to kill
Christ knew what he looked like because they saw him often.
It would seem it would be completely unnecessary for Judas to betray Christ,
but remember that God almost always uses means.
In this case, the scripture points to a betrayer, and Judas has chosen that
part for himself.
Note the times Jesus escaped.
a. John 8:59 – "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but
Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of
them, and so passed by."
b. John 7:44 – "And some of them would have taken him; but no
man laid hands on him."
Moses raising his rod to make the Red Sea part
I know the miracles in Egypt are done by the power of God, not the power of
Moses.
Exodus 7:19-20 – God told Moses to raise his rod over the water and the
water would be turned to blood.
Exodus 8:5 – God told Moses to stretch out his rod over the streams, the
rivers and the ponds and frogs would come upon all the land.
Exodus 8:16-17 – God told Moses to stretch out his rod and lice would
come on all the land.
This is what Moses did and this is what God did.
Acts 2:23 – the people who betrayed Christ were not pre-ordained to do
it, but they did it anyway and faced the judgment of God because of their
actions.
I Corinthians 1:26-30 – God uses people to preach the gospel message so
sinners can be saved from eternal hell. God gets all the glory when people are
saved, we are only his messengers.
God uses circumstances of this life to cause us to think about the
consequences of righteousness and sin. See the result of smoking, dipping and
chewing tobacco. See the result of adulteries. See the result of illicit drug
use. See the result of homosexual activities. See the result of fornication. See
the result of humbling serving the living God. See the result of willingly
giving tithes and offerings to God. See the result of living a quiet and
peaceable life before God. |
