I. It was determined before the world began that Jesus Christ would come
and die for the sins of the human race.
A. II Tim. 1:9 - Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy
calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and
grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, Verse
10 states that what God promised before the foundation of the world is not
manifested in the death of Jesus Christ.
B. Titus 1:2 - In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie,
promised before the world began; Verse 3 states that the fulfilled
promise is now manifested, and the commission is given to Paul to preach
this gospel message into all the world.
C. Psalms 14:2 states that God looked down through time and saw that all
would go away from Him, therefore He has elected some to Himself.
D. Eph. 1:4,5 - We are elected to Christ according to His good pleasure,
not because of any works on our part.
II. Jesus Christ took our sins upon Himself.
A. I Corinthians 6:11 – Christ became all these things that he might
deliver us from sin. I am not saying that Christ committed all these
sins, rather that he took our sins upon himself. Christ
was absolutely perfect, having no sin at all. He died, not because he
was a sinner, rather he died that we might have life.
1. fornicators – an unmarried person who commits premarital sex.
2. idolaters – a person who worships an idol, (anything except God
Almighty).
3. adulterers – a married person who commits illicit sex.
4. effeminate – a male prostitute – a boy kept for the use of
homosexuals – a man who submits his body to unnatural lewdness.
5. abusers of themselves with mankind – a homosexual.
6. thieves – one who steals.
7. covetous – one who desires more than he has or one who wants what
others have.
8. drunkards – one who drinks too much alcohol.
9. revilers – a railer – a person who is constantly into mischief.
10. extortioners – a person who uses his influences to take from
others.
B. Gal. 1:4 - Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us
from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: See
1:14-16.
C. Heb 1:3 - Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express
image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when
he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty
on high
D. Heb 7:27 - Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer
up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he
did once, when he offered up himself.
E. Acts 2:23 - Jesus was taken by wicked men and crucified.
III. Acts 10:34-43 - The sermon Peter preached to Cornelius and his
household.
