I.
Importance:
A.
Every book in the New Testament refers to the Book of Genesis.
Each writer believes Genesis is literally inspired.
B.
Gives us the only exact history of "primitive ages".
(I was rebuked because I preached a message on "6,000 year old earth".
The person didn't think it made any difference how old the earth was.)
C.
Before you can know Christ as Saviour and Lord, you must know Him as creator.
D.
Solves the problem of sin. (death,
sickness, crime, trouble, etc.,)
E.
Gives us a viewpoint into the new earth, which is to come.
II.
Eccl. 7:29 - God has made man upright, but he has sought out many inventions.
God made man perfect - but subject to falling.
(Believers are better off than Adam.
We can't fall.)
A.
Perfect understanding
B.
Perfect will - agreeable with the will of God
C.
Perfect affections - orderly, pure, and holy
III.
Heb. 11:3 - We understand:
A.
The creation of the world by faith, not sight or science.
B.
Worlds were framed (to complete thoroughly, join together) by the Word of God.
IV.
Account of creation treated as pure history in the following places:
A.
Ex. 20:9-11 - We rest on the seventh day because God did.
B.
Ex. 31:17 - Keeping the Sabbath.
The reason was because God created the heaven and earth in six days and rested
on the Sabbath.
C.
Ps. 8 - There is no thought but that God created the heavens and the earth.
D.
Ps. 104 - There is no thought but that God created the heavens and the earth.
E.
Matt. 19:4-6 - Christ believed that man was made male and female at the
beginning. Note that the Pharisees
were questioning divorce because they had forgotten the facts of the creation.
F.
II Peter 3:5 - Some folks are willingly ignorant of the fact that God spoke the
creation into existence. Therefore
they are ignorant of the fact of the soon return of the Lord.
G.
Heb. 4:4 - God resting the seventh day from all His works.
So they believed that God created the creation.
V.
God made the creation out of nothing:
A.
Rom. 4:17 - calleth those things, which be not as though they were.
B.
Heb. 11:3 - things that are seen were not made of things which do appear.
C.
Ps. 33:6, 9 - made heavens by word, host of heaven by breath of mouth.
D.
Amos 4:13 - The Lord, the God of hosts created all things.
