The Joy Of Spreading The Gospel

Matthew 28:18-20

Introduction:  God has given His kind of churches the authority to preach the gospel, baptize the believers, and then to teach the believers all things.  Note the necessity of keeping the order correctly.  If there is no gospel preaching, there won’t be any baptisms, there won’t be any church members to learn.

1.       II Cor. 4:7 – We have this treasure in earthen vessels. The god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest they should be saved.  We don’t preach ourselves, but Christ crucified.

2.       I Cor. 1:14-18 – Paul didn’t want to preach the gospel out of any sort of personal gain, but for the glory of God.

3.       I Cor. 2:1-5 - We can’t save sinners, but we can declare the gospel to them.  Paul had much fear and trembling at preaching the gospel.  He wanted people to trust Christ, now his eloquent preaching and teaching.

4.       Matthew 13:3-9 - The parable of the sower - We are given the authority to sow the right kind of seed.  The ground the seed falls on is not up to us, but to the Holy Spirit of God.

5.       I Cor. 6:9-11 - If there is anything that will change this world, it will be the gospel.  These people were fornicators, worshippers of idols, adulterers, effeminate (a catamite, a boy who has sexual relations with a man, or one who satisfies themselves with unnatural lewdness), abusers of themselves with mankind (homosexuals), thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers (a user of harsh, abusive language), extortioners (using power to achieve personal results)
