Christ will return
Matthew 24:36
I am not worried about Y2K or the year 2000 rolling around. We should be more concerned with spiritual things than in keeping material, physical possessions.
The world will come to an end one of these days. The world makes fun of this. You can see it in the cartoon of a weird little person wearing a white robe and carrying a sign saying, “Repent, the world is coming to an end.” The story is told of Chicken Little, who ran around crying, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling.”
Jesus is not a weird little person carrying a sign saying the world is coming to an end. Christ is not Chicken Little running around like a chicken with its head cut off, alarming people with a false message of the sky falling.
When will Christ return? We don’t know and the Bible doesn’t say. Matthew 24:36 states, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” Nobody, except God the Father knows when the end of the world is coming.
Some folks today seem to believe the end of the world is false. Notice II Peter 3:3-9. Just as sure as the whole world was destroyed by water in the days of Noah, the entire world will be burned up with fire in the end of the world. There are many people today who doubt the world wide flood in the days of Noah, but that doesn’t mean there never was a world wide flood. The Bible states there was a flood, therefore there was. The Bible is truth. The reason men are willingly ignorant of the world wide flood in Noah’s day is that they don’t want to face the fact that God is the supreme judge of this world. God will judge every thought, every deed and every action.
The rapture of the saints is the next event given in prophecy. I don’t know when the rapture will take place, but God states I Thess 4:13-18. Notice that Paul uses the word “we” to illustrate that he believes he will still be alive when Christ raptures out His saints. Paul believed in the imminent return of Christ to this earth. The rapture didn’t happen during Paul’s lifetime, or during any of the time since Paul’s death. This means that the rapture is closer today than it every has been. Christ could come back today!! He could come back before this radio broadcast is over!!
I Thess. 5:1-6 states that Christ will come as a thief in the night, but we are able to understand the signs of the times. When people say peace and safety, then cometh sudden destruction upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape.
Signs of the end of the world.
Matthew 24:38-41 - People will be living their lives, not giving a second though to God, His plan for their lives, or the coming judgment.
Luke 17:28-30 - As it was in the days of Lot, so shall it be in the days of the coming of the son of Man. Wickedness was accepted as a way of life. There was no thought that God saw, understood, or would do anything about wickedness. Lot was sitting in the gates of Sodom. This means that in the last days, saved people will have stopped fighting wickedness and are accepting it. Note that Lot’s children was fully integrated into the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot lost his children to the wickedness of the world, just like a lot of parents today are losing their children to the wickedness of this world.
